This research aims to measure quality of life (QOL) of type 2 diabetes patients with and without complication and examine to what extent retinopathy, nephropathy and neuropathy affect diabetic patients’ QOL. Two hundred type 2 diabetes patients who received medical care from outpatient diabetic clinic at Nhongharn hospital were recruited and interviewed by The Medical Outcome Study Short Form 36 (MOS SF-36) Thai version. The result demonstrated that overall QOL of diabetic patients was good with an average score of 71.17. In regard to each dimension of QOL, the first two highest score were social functioning and physical functioning with an average score of 86.37 and 79.17, respectively. The lowest score was general health with an average score of 52.23. The relationship between other factors and diabetic complications and overall QOL indicated that age, family’s income per month and occupation are significant predictors of overall QOL (R2 = .134 ; F = 10.112 ; p = .000). However, nephropathy, retinopathy and neuropathy are not significant predictors of overall QOL (p > 0.05). Therefore, healthcare professionals should focus on providing medical service to the elderly group.
