The objective of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate the consumer’s opinion and related factors towards the services provided from general versus chain drugstores in Muang district, Ubon Ratchathani province. The participants were 200 consumers who were at least 18 years old and came to chain pharmacies and general drugstores which were matched by a distance within 1 kilometer area in Muang district, Ubon Ratchathani. Those samples were conveniently sampling and data were collected using self-administered questionnaire with Cronbach’s alpha at 0.877 and 0.937. Descriptive statistic together with Chi-square and t-test were used to analyze the data. These results revealed that the behavior of participants in terms of purchasing food supplements was significantly different with mean score of frequency ranged from 1.28 to 1.96 (p-value = .003) (total score of 4). The frequency in receiving pharmacy services from general and chain store pharmacy was also different with mean score of 1.89 – 2.95 (p-value = <.001) (total score of 4). In terms of the opinion towards services from both types of drugstores, the results indicated that there was a significant difference in the ability to bargain product price with mean score of 1.63 – 1.93 (total score of 3) (p-value = <.001). Furthermore, their opinion towards all aspects of person (pharmacist) was also different (p-value = <.001-.043). Thus, this factor should be accounted for in order to improve each type of drugstore.
