A cross-sectional analysis study was performed to determine factors affecting on target INR control in warfarin-treated patients. Patients visiting warfarin clinic during August 1st, 2011 to December 30th, 2011 were enrolled. Patient data were collected by the questionnaire and medical record. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistic and logistic regression analysis. One-hundred patients were included into the study. Valvular replacement surgery and valvular heart disease were the most indication of warfarin with 48.0% and 17.0%, respectively. Most of patient (52.0%) needed a target INR at 2.0 to 3.0. Sixty-eight percent of patients were achieved INR between 1.8 and 3.5. The results from multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that factor related to INR out of target was marital status with widowed/divorced/separated when compared with status married (OR = 11.219; 95% CI= 1.159-108.591, p = 0.037), while the frequency of follow up every two months was related with achieving target INR when compared with follow up every one month (OR = 0.271; 95% CI= 0.075-0.975, p = 0.046). In conclusion, marital status with widowed/divorced/separated was the significant factor related with INR out of target and the frequency of follow up every two months was the significant factor related with achieving INR in target. The results of this study can be applied to improve in target INR control of warfarin clinic at Sappasitthiprasong hospital.
