This study was a quasi-experimental research with an objective to determine the effect of screening and counseling on smoking cessation by pharmacist in community pharmacy using “5A” technique. The data were collected during January - August 2554. The subjects were male or female customers who were at least 18 year olds and agreed to participate in this study. This study collected datas about smoking habits, number of cigarettes smoked per day, assess the readiness of smokers to quit smoking. The following issues and make recommendations are 15-25 minutes and follow up a week. A total of 29 participants were included into the study. Of those, 96.60% were male and 95.83 % were current smokers who smoked 8.10± 5.83 cigarettes/day for 12.28±9.32 years. The level nicotine dependence in 89.66% of subjects was low (FTND score 0-4). In terms of the readiness to quit smoking according to transtheoretical model of change, the results revealed that it was improved in 18 subjects after a 1 week follow up. Moreover, there was one subject who could quit smoking. The amounts of the cigarette smoking/day in current smokers (After and before) were insignificantly different (7.92 vs 8.75, p-value= 0.167). The mean score of knowledge in smoking cessation after counseling was significantly higher while the attitude towards smoking after and before counseling was not different (mean score knowledge 8.86±0.50 and 4.93±2.00, p-value< 0.05 และ mean score of attitude 25.93±1.25 and 25.38±2.50, p-value< 0.05 , respectively).
