The purpose of this research was to develop an identification database for tablets and capsules commercially available in Thailand (Phase III). The update database was designed to be user-friendly and convenient for pharmacy practice. Data of tablets and capsules, including identification services, available in Thailand had been reviewed through standard secondary and tertiary pharmaceutical references for database development. The 780 new items of tablets and capsules, gathered from hospitals and drugstores, were appended to the database (in total of 1,896 items). Drug identification could be performed using keywords e.g., generic names, trade names, dosage forms, size, manufacturer, distributor, marks, and colors. The content, feasibility and overall user satisfaction of database were assessed by 83 hospital pharmacists. The satisfaction of database content, feasibility, overall user satisfaction were reported good to excellence 77.3 %, 62.1%, and 64.8%, respectively. Moreover hospital pharmacists agreed that this database was functional and beneficial for pharmacy practice. In addition, it had been suggested that accessibility of data should be improved and more items, focusing on products available in drugstores and medical clinics, should be included into the database.
