Title : THE STUDY OF STANDARD TIME AND METHOD FOR ESTIMATION OF THE NUMBER OF PERSONNELS REQUIRED FOR AMBULATORY CARE OF HIV CLINIC IN WARINCHAMPRAB HOSPITAL

Recently, the 2010 World Health Organization (WHO) report has estimated the number of infected HIV/AIDS patients around the world approximately 33.3 million. Therefore, there have been a large number of patients undergoing pharmaceutical care at HIV/AIDS ambulatory care clinic with a shortage of hospital staff. The study aims to evaluate number of personnel including, pharmacist, pharmacist assistants, and workers underwent the pharmaceutical care activities at HIV/AIDS ambulatory care clinic. It is a descriptive surveyed design via stopwatch time study technique. The infected HIV/AIDS patients visiting at HIV/AIDS clinic were required to be qualified for the study either undergoing the ARV treatment or receiving placebo for adherence assessment. The study tool is a time study forms. Descriptive stastistics were analyzed including, frequency, percentage, and standard deviation. This study showed that the standard time for Ambulatory care of HIV clinic Warinchamprab hospital by using stopwatch time study technigue.This standard time composed of five steps of pharmacist and pharmacist assistance activities as follows = 9 minutes for Taking Patient history and Patient profile (New case), 7 minutes to Assessment of Drug related problems, 1 minutes for Sticker of prescribed printing,6 minutes for preparing drugs and Checking by the checker One and 5 minutes for Pharmacist checking for prescription and dispensing. The average timing for pharmacist activities was 28 minutes. Calculated to man-hour per year composed of 208 hours for pharmacist activities and 214 hours pharmacist assistance and worker. Calculated to Workload per operators per year for pharmacist and pharmacist assistance/worker was 672 hours. Conclusively, the number of operator for Ambulatory care of HIV clinic Warinchamprab hospital by using stopwatch time study technigue composed of 0.31 personnel of pharmacist and 0.32 personnel of pharmacist assistance /worker.
