Prevention of Cross Adverse Drug Reaction is a pharmacist’s role in providing pharmaceutical care. β-lactam drugs often cause cross ADR. Objective= To study incidence of Cross ADR from β-lactam drugs at Sunpasitthiprasong hospital between 2011–2012. Methods and patients= This is a retrospective study. Data were collected from dispensing program database for both in-patients and out-patients to identify an active case of β-lactam drug allergy between 2011–2012. Then past medical history was reviewed for either an active case of or self-reported information of β-lactam allergy between 2011–2012. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze data. Results= Active cases of β-lactam drug allergy were often found in female between 2011–2012. Most were between 41-50 years old. Six hundred and ninety eight patients were an active case of β-lactams drug allergy between 2011–2012, 598 in-patients and 100 out-patients. Thirty four patients had previous β-lactam drug allergy in the last 10 years and most were an active case. Nineteen patients had previous β-lactam drug allergy in 2011. Conclusion= The incidence of cross ADR in β-lactam drugs at Sunpasitthiprasong hospital between 2011–2012 was 4.87% which was a high rate. Most cross ADR was between Cephalosporins and Carbapenems.
