Introduction: Chemotherapy has shown improving response rate and survival in cancer patients. However, adverse events is an important issue affecting patient and caregiver quality of life (QOL). The objective of this study was to evaluate patient and caregiver quality of life after chemotherapy treatment. Methods: Prospective cohort study was established among cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at Sunpasitthiprasong hospital Ubon ratchathani and their caregivers during June - October 2019. European Organization for the research and treatment of cancer quality of life questionnaire core 30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) and World Health Organization Quality of Life Brief Thai (WHO-BREF-THAI) were used to evaluated QOL of patient and caregiver, respectively. QOL before and after treatment had been compared. Results: 40 patient-caregiver pairs were enrolled in the study. Most of patients were males (55%) with a median of age 56 ± 18 years and caregivers were mostly female (77.5%) with a median of age 45 ±22 years. Global health status/QOL was similar before and after treatment. Role functioning and cognitive functioning were significant declined after treatment (p<0.05). Patients symptoms including fatigue, nausea and vomiting, dyspnea, insomnia, appetite loss, constipation, and diarrhea significant worsening after treatment (p<0.05). All caregiver QOL domains were similar before and after treatment except physical domain which significantly decreased after treatment (p=0.025). In addition, Patient Global health status/QOL changing has direct correlation with overall caregiver QOL changing (β=0.322, p-value=0.043) Conclusions: Compare QOL before and after treatment, functional QOL and most adverse events worsening in cancer patients. Physical QOL was significant declined in caregivers. Patient Global health status/QOL has direct correlation with overall caregiver QOL.
