Root cultures of Eurycoma longifolia Jack (EL). and Eurycoma hamandiana Pierre (EH) was cultured in ½ WP with 0.4µg/ml NAA and 0.1% activated charcoal. Production of 9-hydroxycanthin-6-one in root cultures were determined after 3 days treatment of methyl jasmonate 100 µM and 200 µM. and performed by HLPC. The concentrations of 9-hydroxycanthin-6-one of the root culture of EL and EH, control groups, are 2.44 µg/100 mg, and 0.97 µg/100 mg, respectively. Methyl jasmonate enhanced the intracellular 9-hydroxycanthin-6-one content of the EL root culture by 2.97-fold at 200 µM of methyl jasmonate and EH root culture by 2.71-fold at 100 µM of methyl jasmonate. |
