The expanded economic of Ubon Ratchathani Province causes the traffic problems and air pollutions, and, in turns, affect the respiratory functions of the traffic policemen. The aims of this study were to = (1) evaluate the lung functions (FVC, FEV1, and FEV1/FVC) = (2) compare between traffic policemen and police officers in Muang and Warinchamrab district = (3) study the factors effecting pulmonary functions such as smoking status, time since hire, and exercise behavior. Lung functions were assessed by the spirometer. The 127 subjects were divided into 53 traffic policemen and 74 police officers. The results showed no significant difference of the pulmonary functions between the traffic policemen (FVC=89.79±1.69, FEV1=93.58±2.13, FEV1/FVC=87.62±1.46) and the police officers (FVC=87.27±1.54, FEV1=90.14±2.20, FEV1/FVC=86.55±1.40). Smoking, time since hire, and exercise behavior had weak associations with lung functions (r2<1). The present study indicated that lung functions of the policemen were in normal range.
