The antibacterial activity of Piper betle Linn. ethanolic leaf extract and volatile oil against Enterococcus faecalis in biofilm form and planktonic form were investigated in this study. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of the ethanolic leaf extract was determined by agar disc diffusion and agar well diffusion was used to examine MIC of volatile oil after incubated at 37 ๐C for 24 hours. The ethanolic leaf extract and volatile oil were found to inhibit Enterococcus faecalis with MIC value of 6.25 mg/ml and 50% v/v, respectively. Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) of ethanolic leaf extract to Enterococcus faecalis biofilm form was determined by using bacterial colony count method after incubated at 37 ๐C for 24 hours. The ethanolic leaf extract was shown to destroy Enterococcus faecalis with MBC value of 50 mg/ml. The appropriate contract time of ethanolic leaf extract to Enterococcus faecalis biofilm form was 16 hours
