Hypertension is a chronic disease that its trend increases every year. If the patients can’t incessantly control their blood pressure, complications may occur afterward. The purpose of this study was to assess trend of controlled blood pressure in hypertensive patients, who received medical services at Warinchamrab Hospital, Ubonratchathani Province during January 1st, 2002 to December 31st, 2008, from an electronic database by the Joint National Commission on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure VII (JNC VII), considered the number of clinical visits as a denominator. The results showed that the proportion of controlled blood pressure increases over time for both patients with hypertension only and hypertensive patients with co-morbidity. However, the proportion of controlled blood pressure is still less than 50%. Patients with hypertension only have higher trend of controlled blood pressure than hypertensive patients with co-morbidity. Regarding gender and occupation, the trend of controlled blood pressure is comparable. The results may be used for planning medical care for hypertensive patients to be able to control their blood pressure.
